Okay - so y'all know I'm a little OCD (obsessive compulsive) and I like things organized. That's one of the reasons I liked this book! The chapters are laid out not only by numbers (1 through 38) but also through stages of Matteo's life. How can you NOT like a chapter heading: The little house in the poppy fields?!! Also it starts with In the Beginning and Chapter 23 is Death...hmmmm, I guess there is something after Death?! LOL.
I love this book - set in an all too believable future on the border of what used to be the US and Mexico, Mazatlan is a thin strip of land governed by El Patron - a powerful drug lord. Matteo introduces us to this life - and patron, but finds out more about himself then he ever really wanted to.
